My research develops theoretical and methodological advances in biogeography & community ecology, leading to applications in conservation & restoration science. At large scales I’m particularly interested in discovering and documenting the distribution of different aspects of terrestrial and marine biodiversity and associated patterns of the human footprint. At local scales I study the links between the functional structure of ecological communities, the functioning of ecosystems and the contributions of nature to people. I’m currently integrating this knowledge to help develop and deploy strategies for the conservation of coral reefs socio-ecosystems.
